Lots to say, but not today

Today was a full day to be sure. We had a drill tonight, and the certified firefighter did search and rescue with their hoods on backwards so they couldn't see, with their scba masks on and crawlded around the floor in the fire engine bay. I took pictures. But the day has been long and I need to get some sleep, so hopefully I'll be inspired to write more in the morning.

Next

So what to blog about. Well who's going to be reading this anyway? If I assume it will be someone who doesn't know me, an intro is in order. I'm 42, as you might have seen in my profile, if you can see my profile. I'm a male. I have two kids, one boy at 12 and on girl at 10 years of age. So that would be the raising part in my blog title. I guess I could go on to explain the riding part. I love riding motorcycle, although I've only been doing that for about 4 years now. I have a 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200 I love very much. And then the rescue part is the newest part of my life. I have just started working as a volunteer at the fire department locally. I'm not yet trained to do any firefighting, or EMT work, but I will be doing that. Currently I have been certified to drive the medics and rescue truck.

I'm thinking I might write about those things as I go on. Like today my less that exciting day to most folks, was pretty cool to me. It included riding my bike up to get a pair of pants that the department is paying for me to work in when I drive for them. To me this was so cool because it felt like recognition of me being dedicated to helping, even without the certifications. I have been helping with the department since late last year, and have gone on many calls as an "extra" set of hand - to lift, or grab stuff. I've learned where most stuff is on the medic, the rescue, and the fire engines. So the Chief asking me to get some uniform pants on their bill seems like an achievement. Not something I'd brag about to most people, but here in my blog seems like a good place.

So I started writing this yesterday actually, and got interupted. Life is busy, most of the time for me really. When I started writing it was the afternoon and I was "suppose" to be working. I had arrived back from the firefigher supply store and refreshed from my quick little jaunt on the motorcycle. My son had a few friends over, and they were all over the place, making it hard to focus on work, or even blogging for that matter. Then my wife..... Oh, I suppose if I'm writing like some outsider is ready I should talk a bit about her.

My wife is a firefighter, and EMT currently. She is 40. We have been married for over 20 years, and known each other almost for 23 years. We have lived in many places over the years. We lived in the Detroit area (including the city itself, for about our first 10 years. We lived in California (around Sacramento), Chicago, and currently find ourself for the past 5 years in Ohio, near Dayton. For many years, since we had kids, she did the "stay at home" mom thing. In the past 4 or 5 years she has been trying to find identy, and thus in the past 2 years ramped up joining the fire department and getting herself trained. I followed her, after I saw how cool it was, and saw I had a chance to finally give something back to the community. That is something I have been searching for too, for several years.

Anyway, what I was saying earlier was that life is busy, and yesterday was a perfect example trying to squeeze in a few words. Kids here, wife working on things and asking for my help or input, work making me... well work, and trying to sneak away for a little piece of just myself. I like it though. It keeps life interesting. Routine is good, but variety is the spice of life.

I'll wrap this up, as I do have work to do, and I plan to take a short ride again today while it is so nice outside (70+ degrees today and sunny!). I'll write some more later. I have a lot to say, and rarely do I say so much. But it feels good, so I'll try to make it a habit!

Day 1, page 1

Why am I starting another blog. I've had about 5 or 6 so far, and I don't stick to it, but I'm not giving up. So here I am again. Well, I'd like to think I can stick to it this time. So anyway, I've got a lot to say, but it is late currently, and I'll have to REALLY start next time.
